Firstly, congratulations to all the 2019 Mariamma Varkey Award nominees and winners. It fills me with great pride to hear your stories; how you
inspire your colleagues and the next generation. Your passion and dedication is evident and your work is a clear example of excellence.
Excellence is one of our refreshed GEMS Values, which is the result of an engagement exercise conducted with hundreds of employees and leaders across the group to understand what has been working well and what we can improve in order to perform at our best. I hope you would agree that care, excellence, one team and always learning are what make us uniquely GEMS and define who we are.
The appointment of our new adviser, Sir Anthony Seldon, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Buckingham, is a great example of always learning. This appointment will give us an unprecedented opportunity to learn and gain invaluable insights from one of Britain’s leading contemporary historians, educationalists and political authors.
As you know, GEMS Rewards is our way of giving back to our community – we care. The vision that led to the creation of the programme was to make quality education more accessible, and everything we do as part of GEMS Rewards drives toward that vision.
On Friday 1 November, the GEMS Rewards programme began a new chapter with a new and improved app giving parents, staff and students more options to save. I hope you have downloaded/updated the app and had a look at the new features and enhancements to existing benefits, in particular the increased points earning and redeeming opportunities for staff.
Wishing you all the best,
